Katiuscia Torres Soares, 34, known as Kat Torres or Kat A Luz, was arrested in Minas Gerais on suspicion of keeping people in conditions analogous to slavery in the United States, among other possible crimes. The case is under legal secrecy.

Torres began to be investigated after relatives and friends started looking for a young woman who had been taken to the United States to live with her.

The case generated a police report on suspicion of human trafficking and a campaign on social networks. Similar reports were published on a website and gathered by lawyer Gladys Pacheco, who represents about 15 people who present themselves as victims of Torres.

"She asked for money to solve, in a miraculous and secret way, the problems of these victims", explains Pacheco, who says that the alleged acts of the influencer can configure human trafficking, torture, and reduction to a condition analogous to slavery, favoring prostitution or other forms of sexual exploitation, religious extortion, and quackery.
