Brasília

Under criticism for the successive increase in fuel prices, President Jair Bolsonaro (no party) said in his livestream on Thursday (18) that he will promote changes at Petrobras and announced exemption from federal taxes.

Bolsonaro said that "there is no one who was not upset by the readjustment" and criticized Petrobras President Roberto Castello Branco.

On Thursday, Petrobras reported two new readjustments in gasoline and diesel prices, set to rise 10.2% and 15.1%, respectively, as of this Friday (19). It is the fourth readjustment of gasoline and the third for diesel in 2021.

Bolsonaro called the increase abusive and, in a meeting with Minister Paulo Guedes (Economy), he disclosed his decision to zero the PIS/Cofins levied on diesel for two months, starting on March 1.
