In the early evening of Wednesday (5), the Recife City Hall announced the suspension of the street Carnival in 2022. João Campos (PSB) management left open the possibility of holding the event in another period of the year if the pandemic scenario allow. The decision comes amid the increase in flu cases in the city and Pernambuco and the Covid pandemic.
Also this Wednesday, the City Hall of Olinda announced the cancellation of the street Carnival. One of the main Carnival centers in the country, the city also skipped the festivities in 2021.
