Spanish Company Aena Takes Congonhas and 10 more Terminals

Seventh round of concessions saw debut of XP company in the sector

The only single company interested in the auction of Congonhas airport, in São Paulo, the Spanish group Aena won the concession of the main block with a bid of R$ 2.45 billion [$457 million] (premium of 231%).

The second block, formed by Campo de Marte (SP) and Jacarepaguá (RJ), was purchased by XP Infra IV, the only competitor, with an bid of R$ 141.4 million [$26 million], a premium of 0.01% in relation to the minimum initial bid. The move marks the company's entry into the sector.

The third block, Norte 2, which included the airports of Belém (PA) and Macapá (AP), was the only one in which there was a dispute between companies. The winner was the NovoNorte Aeroportos consortium, with a bid of R$ 125 million [$ 23 million] (premium of 119.78%).

In the seventh round auction of the airport concessions program, 15 airports were auctioned off, in three blocks. The terminals were granted to the private sector for a period of 30 years.

The 15 airports auctioned off have generated total revenue of R$ 2.716 billion.
