Caetano Veloso Leaves Lula and Bolsonaro Aside to Exalt His Bahia in His 80th Birthday Celebration Concert

Politically heated climate of the 'Meu Coco' tour was left out of Globoplay's presentation featuring Maria Bethânia

Caetano Veloso went back to his roots in the celebration of his 80th birthday in a concert this Sunday night with his sister, Maria Bethânia, and his children, Moreno, Zeca, and Tom. The presentation exclusive to guests, most of them TV Globo stars, was broadcasted live from Cidade das Artes, in Rio de Janeiro, on the Globoplay streaming platform and Multishow channel.

More well-behaved and formal than those of his current tour, "Meu Coco", which travels the country until the end of the year, the concert was not marked by the political fervor that sets the tone of his latest album, but by an exaltation of Bahia where he was born and where he says he wants to go back to.

Not that at this point anyone has any doubts regarding what Caetano thinks about politics, or about Lula and Bolsonaro, however, the presentation lacked more tracks from the album "Transa", classics like "Alegria, Alegria" and "Tropicália", or even other songs from " Meu Coco", which ended up excluded from the celebration, with only the title track being present in the setlist.
