Number of Confirmed Coronavirus Cases Rises to 200 in Brazil

Data show Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo have community or sustained transmission

The number of confirmed cases of the new coronavirus rose from 121 to 200, according to a balance released by the Ministry of Health on Sunday (15).

The data shows that in the cities of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo there is community or sustained transmission, with cases of people who have not traveled and have no connection to any confirmed case.

In Bahia, there is record of local transmission, which is one level below, when someone acquires the virus without having traveled abroad, but with contact with a confirmed case. Therefore, it is possible to link the case.

With the confirmation of 79 new cases, between Saturday (14) and this Sunday (15), the number of states with a record of infection with the new coronavirus rose to 15.

The largest number is in São Paulo, where there are 136 confirmed cases.

Next are: Rio de Janeiro (24), Federal District (8), Paraná (6), Santa Catarina (6), Rio Grande do Sul (6), Goiás (3), Bahia (2), Minas Gerais (2 ), Pernambuco (2), Amazonas (1), Rio Grande do Norte (1), Alagoas (1), Sergipe (1) and Espírito Santo (1).
