The rapid advance of Covid-19 in the state of São Paulo meant that on Thursday (16), the six public hospitals located in the capital of São Paulo and observed by the government reached an ICU bed occupancy rate of at least 80%.
On the east side of the capital, three institutions filled up. The municipal hospitals Tide Setúbal, Cidade Tiradentes, and Ermelino Matarazzo have 100% bed occupancy, according to the municipal secretary of Health, Edson Aparecido.
At the Emílio Ribas Institute, in the central region, 93% of the ICU beds and 61% of the infirmary are occupied. The General Hospital of Vila Nova Cachoeirinha, in the north, has 86% of the beds occupied in the ICU and 53% in the infirmary. The picture is momentary: the day before, Emílio Ribas' ICU hit 100% capacity, which could happen again in a few hours.
In the capital of São Paulo, of the 19 public hospitals, nine were referred to the treatment of Covid-19. The average bed occupancy rate is 65%, but in the east, the situation is critical.
