Data from the Ministry of Health this Thursday (7) show that Brazil registered 610 new deaths due to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. It is the third day in a row with more than 600 new deaths per day - there were 615 on Wednesday (6), the highest number so far, and 600 on Tuesday (5).

Thus, the number of confirmed deaths from the new coronavirus reaches 9,146. The country also registered 9,888 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Brazil and has a total of 135,106.

This Wednesday (6) Brazil overtook Belgium and became the sixth country with the most deaths in the world, according to Johns Hopkins University (USA), which monitors data from the pandemic. The top five countries with the most deaths are the USA (75,447), the United Kingdom (30,689), Italy (29,958), Spain (26,070), and France (25,990).

According to experts, the real numbers in Brazil should be higher, since there is a low supply of tests in the country and underreporting. The country currently has 1,782 deaths under investigation.

Even so, the average of new confirmed deaths each day has been growing.

In the last week, for example, the daily average was around 429. In the previous week, it was around 238.

Of the 610 new deaths confirmed on Thursday, 227 occurred in the last three days, and the others in previous days, a situation that draws attention to the delay in diagnosis in the country.
