Brazil Records 1,039 New Deaths from Coronavirus; Total Passes 24 Thousand

The country has more than 391 thousand confirmed cases; data were released by the Health Ministry

Brazil registered 1,039 new deaths from coronavirus and 16,324 new cases in the last 24 hours, according to data from the Ministry of Health released on Tuesday (26).

As a result, the total number of deaths is 24,512, and confirmed cases, 391,222.

According to Johns Hopkins University (USA), Brazil is the second country with the most coronavirus cases. In absolute numbers, it is second only to the United States, which has 1.6 million cases.

In the number of deaths, Brazil is the sixth most affected country. The top five countries with the most deaths are the USA (98,000), the United Kingdom (37,000), Italy (32,000), France (28,000), and Spain (27,000).

A model used by the White House predicts more than 125 thousand deaths in the country by August.
