Data from the Ministry of Health of this Wednesday (6) show that Brazil broke a new record of coronavirus deaths registered in one day, with 615 new deaths. Brazil also now ranks sixth among countries with the most deaths in the world, according to Johns Hopkins University ( USA), which monitors pandemic data.

With a total of 8,536 deaths from coronavirus, Brazil surpassed Belgium, which has 8,339 deaths. There were also 10,503 new confirmed cases - the total is 125,218. The record of deaths recorded in 24 hours was the previous day, with 600 new deaths.

According to experts, the real numbers should be higher, since there is a low supply of tests in the country and underreporting. The country currently has 1,643 deaths under investigation.

Asked if the record indicates a need for reinforcement in isolation guidelines, the Minister of Health, Nelson Teich, admitted that there is a tendency to increase the curve and defended reinforcement in "care measures," without, however, citing examples.

"About the deaths, the curve is not falling, and we will have to pay attention to it and intensify our communication with society a little more, talking about care," he said. "We see that we are not entering a downward trend."

Despite recognizing the increase, Teich again defended the analysis of regional scenarios and not an "average Brazil." According to him, the guidelines should vary by region.
