Brazil recorded 807 new deaths from coronavirus and 11,687 new cases in the last 24 hours, according to data that the Health Ministry released on Monday (25).

The total number of deaths is 23,473, and confirmed cases, 374,898. According to Johns Hopkins University (USA), Brazil remains the second country with the most cases of the disease. In absolute numbers, it is second only to the United States, which has 1.6 million cases.

The daily record is from last Thursday (21) when the country recorded 1,188 new deaths in a single day.

In the number of deaths, Brazil is the sixth most affected country. The top five countries with the most deaths are the USA (98,000), the United Kingdom (36,000), Italy (32,000), France (28,000), and Spain (26,000).

The Health Ministry did not comment on the new data, released only after the end of a press interview scheduled to comment on actions to combat the new coronavirus.

According to the health ministry, the total number of cases and deaths in the country may be higher, since there is underreporting and cases awaiting confirmation.
