According to the Ministry of Health, Brazil recorded 844 new deaths from coronavirus and reached 200,000 confirmed cases of Covid-19 without any prospect of stabilizing the curve.

The total number of deaths since the beginning of the pandemic is 13,993.

At a press conference at the Planalto Palace, in Brasília, Eduardo Macário, the deputy secretary of health surveillance, said that the country is experiencing an emergency situation due to the rise in deaths and confirmed cases of Covid-19.

"The main message is that we are still at a time of growing cases. There is no prospect at this time of stabilization or even of a decrease," said Macário.

"What we have is perhaps the reduction in the dynamics of infection, when we compare, for example, with the United States, which had a very high linear growth," he added.

The five countries with the most cases of Covid-19 are the USA (1.4 million), Russia (252 thousand), the United Kingdom (234 thousand), Spain (229 thousand), and Italy (223 thousand). Brazil comes next, in the sixth position, with 202,918 cases in total. In the last 24 hours, 13,944 new cases were registered.

In the last few days, the daily average of deaths in the country has increased. The record is 881 deaths recorded in just one day, on Tuesday (12). On Friday (8), there were 751 new deaths by Covid-19 and, on Saturday (9), 730 new deaths.
