On Sunday (21), Brazil registered 601 new deaths by Covid-19 and 16,851 new cases. Altogether, there are 50,659 deaths and 1,086,990 sick people since February 26, when the disease first appeared in the country.

The data comes from an unprecedented collaboration between O Estado de S. Paulo, Extra, Folha, O Globo, G1, and UOL to gather and report figures on the new coronavirus.

The consortium collects data from the Health Departments, and the balance sheet is closed at 8:00 pm each day.

Data released by the Ministry of Health at 6:45 pm on Sunday shows 17,459 new cases and 641 new deaths confirmed by Covid-19 in Brazil in the last 24 hours.

According to information from the ministry, the country surpassed 50,000 deaths from coronavirus on Sunday. However, according to the consortium of news, the marker had already been surpassed on Saturday (20). The total, according to the ministry, is 50,617 deaths and 1,085,038 cases. The lethality rate is 4.7%.
