Brazilian Ministry of Health Backs Down and Resumes Full Disclosure of Covid-19 Data after Supreme Court Decision

Earlier, interim minister said that the information would be on a new platform, but the old site returned to work with complete data

Brasília

The Ministry of Health again released on Tuesday afternoon (9) the information regarding the accumulated data of deaths and infected by the novel coronavirus on the site http://covid.saude.gov.br. The data reappeared one day after the decision of Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes.

The ministry did not say whether the measure complies with the Supreme Court decision. The ministry resumed the disclosure format adopted until Thursday last week with the total number of deaths and Coronavirus cases since the beginning of the pandemic.

The Ministry of Health has also re-released the number of cases and deaths in the last 24 hours, which is based on the notification date. This method includes deaths due to the novel coronavirus that happened on the previous day and old cases that were still waiting for confirmation.

Therefore, the website does not adopt the methodology that the Ministry of Health has been announcing in recent days, which would take into account only the deaths that occurred and were confirmed in the last 24 hours. This method results in fewer deaths and leaves out deaths from other days without confirmation.
