President Jair Bolsonaro asked his social media followers on Thursday (11) to film the interior of public and field hospitals to find out whether emergency beds are free or occupied.

In a live on social media, the president said that if the images show any abnormality, they should be sent to the federal government, which will pass it on to the Federal Police or the Brazilian Intelligence Agency for investigation.

Entry to health facilities without authorization is not allowed. The gesture, in addition to embarrassing patients, puts the visitor at risk of contamination, especially amid the coronavirus pandemic. Health officials have recommended that people avoid hospital facilities to prevent contagion.

The president made the request after questioning the total number of coronavirus deaths in Brazil. On Thursday (11), Brazil recorded 1,261 deaths, bringing 41,058 lives lost.
