The data comes from an unprecedented collaboration between Folha, O Estado de S. Paulo, Extra, O Globo, G1, and UOL to gather and disclose the numbers related to the pandemic of the new coronavirus. The information is collected directly from the state Health Departments. The balance is closed daily at 8 pm.

In addition to the consortium's daily data, Folha started showing the so-called moving average. The statistical resource seeks to give a better view of the evolution of the disease, as it attenuates isolated numbers that deviate from the pattern. The moving average is calculated by adding the result of the last seven days, dividing by seven.

The volume registered on Mondays tends to be low, because laboratories have less activity on weekends. The moving average for Monday also considers data from the previous six days, more stable information.

According to data collected until 8 pm this Thursday (16), the average number of deaths in the last seven days is 1,081.
