The data comes from a collaboration between the news media Folha, O Estado de S. Paulo, Extra, O Globo, G1, and UOL to gather and disseminate the numbers related to the pandemic of the new coronavirus. The information is collected directly from the state Health Departments. The balance is closed daily at 8 pm.

Brazil has a rate of about 41 deaths per 100 thousand inhabitants. The United States, which has the highest absolute number of deaths, and the United Kingdom, both ahead of Brazil in the pandemic (that is, they started to suffer from the problem before), have 44 and 68 deaths for every 100 thousand inhabitants, respectively.

The government of São Paulo alleged technical problems for not disclosing the daily data on Tuesday.
