The state of São Paulo recorded, this Saturday (8), more than 25 thousand Covid-19 deaths. In all, there are 621,731 confirmed cases and 25,016 deaths caused by the novel coronavirus in the state, according to the State Government of São Paulo, whose governor is João Dória (PSDB).

The number represents a quarter of deaths in the country, which reached 100,000 deaths last week, according to data collected from the state health departments by the consortium formed by Folha, UOL, O Estado de S. Paulo, Extra, o Globo and G1.

Less than five months after registering the first death caused by the novel coronavirus, the state of São Paulo reached 14,416 deaths of men and 10,600 deaths of women. According to the state government, deaths are concentrated in patients aged 60 or over, totaling 75.2% of deaths.

Among the confirmed cases of the disease, 289,905 are men and 325,897 women. There is no sex information for 5,929 cases. The age group that most concentrates cases is 30 to 39 years old, with 149,083 cases.
