Health Minister Eduardo Pazuello said on Thursday (14) to mayors that the vaccination against Covid will begin on Wednesday, January 20, at 10 am. This, however, will depend on the Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) approval .

In a virtual meeting with about 130 mayors, Pazuello said that the ministry plans to have 8 million doses this month. The numberis equivalent to the doses imported by Butantan and Fiocruz, and their emergency use will be decided by Anvisa on Sunday (17).

The federal government is attempting to preempt the date set by the São Paulo governor, João Doria (PSDB), for the beginning of vaccination in the state—January 25th.

According to the president of the FNP, Jonas Donizette (PSB), one day after announcing that the vaccination would start in the capital cities, Pazuello said that the vaccination "will start throughout Brazil." The minister, however, pointed out to the mayors that one additional factor remains to the January 20 date: logistics.
