The Indian government has given the go-ahead for the commercial export of vaccines against Covid-19. The first shipments will be sent to Brazil and Morocco on Friday (22), according to the Indian foreign minister.
The Planalto Palace reported that 2 million doses will arrive in Brazil late Friday afternoon on a commercial Emirates flight . The aircraft will land in Guarulhos (SP) and, after customs procedures, will continue in an Azul aircraft to the Tom Jobim International Airport in Rio de Janeiro.
The doses, developed by the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca, are being manufactured at the Serum Institute in India, the world's largest vaccine producer.
Brazil, which has the second-highest absolute number of deaths from Covid-19 after the United States, made several calls to the Indian government for the vaccine.
