Mass Vaccination in Serrana (SP) Sparks Registration Queues and Heats up The Real Estate Market

Butantan study will analyze coronavirus containment after all people over 18 receive the immunizer in the city

São Paulo

Serrana, in the metropolitan region of Ribeirão Preto (SP), is a city like so many other municipalities in the interior of the country: silent streets, almost no buildings, with the greatest movement around the main church square.

But in two months the entire adult population of the municipality will receive the vaccine against Covid-19.

In the quiet city of 45 thousand inhabitants, the only thing people can talk about is the vaccine against the disease that killed 57 people and infected 2,401, according to the count of the city hall.

The municipality will be part of a study by the Butantan Institute, one of Coronavac's manufacturers. The idea is to vaccinate the approximately 30,000 residents who are over 18 (there is no authorization to use the immunizer in minors) and analyze the impact of this on the containment of the coronavirus.

The city was divided between four large groups, who will receive the first dose between February 17 and March 10.
