Brazil surpassed this Thursday ( 29) 400 thousand coronavirus deaths 14 months after detecting the disease in Brazil and just 37 days after registering 300 thousand deaths.
This happened as the government and even some of the population continue to deny the risks of Covid-19. The president even insisted on investing in ineffective drugs against the disease and delayed the purchase of vaccines.
At 12:41 pm on Thursday, the media consortium recorded 400,021 deaths in the country, with more than 14.5 million cases since February 2020. It is the second-highest total death toll globally, surpassed only by the more populous United States ( 574 thousand), where the epidemic is already showing signs of decline.
Under the pressure of a CPI to investigate his management of the pandemic, President Jair Bolsonaro (no party) has been advised to attenuate his speech about the biggest health crisis in a hundred years.
