City of São Paulo Surpasses 1 Million Coronavirus Infections

The city of São Paulo surpassed this Tuesday (27) the mark of 1 million people infected by the new coronavirus. According to a bulletin released by the Municipal Health Department, managed by Bruno Covas, the capital of São Paulo had registered 1,000,676 positive diagnoses for Covid-19 by the beginning of the night.

According to the health department, 26,844 people have died from complications caused by the disease. This means that 2.68% of the people who tested positive for Covid-19 in the capital died.

The first case of coronavirus infection in the city (and in the country) was confirmed on February 25 of last year. At the time, the Ministry of Health stated that the infected patient had been in Italy - then the epicenter of the disease - days before returning to Brazil. The first deaths by Covid-19 were confirmed in early March 2020.
