Prevent Senior Recognizes Covid's Diagnostic Code Change

Pedro Benedito Batista Júnior denies having fired doctors who did not prescribe early treatment

The executive director of Prevent Senior, Pedro Benedito Batista Júnior, said on Wednesday (22) in testimony for thee senate pandemic investigation that the hospital and insurance operator adopted a procedure to change the diagnosis code for patients with Covid-19 that caused the disease to cease to be mentioned after certain days of hospitalization.

Batista Júnior also disputed the information contained in a dossier prepared by the operator's own doctors, stating that at no time did they hide deaths in a study with hydroxychloroquine. He even accused professionals of cheating a spreadsheet to change the results of that study.

As Folha showed, Batista Júnior also threatened a former doctor who denounced irregularities and was questioned by the senators for that.

The director was summoned after reports that Prevent used its hospitals as a laboratory for studies with hydroxychloroquine to treat Covid. A dossier signed by 15 doctors delivered to the investigation confirms the complaint and points out that patients and family members were not consulted about the administration of these drugs.

The document also shows that doctors were forced to prescribe the drugs, which were sent to patients, in closed kits, under threat of being fired. The dossier also accuses Prevent Senior of changing medical records to hide any problems with the so-called early treatment.
