Bolsonaro Minister Offers Hotline to Anti-Vaccination People who Experience Discrimination

Ministry of Damares Alves opposes the requirement to immunize children against Covid

Brasília

The Ministry of Women, Family and Human Rights, headed by Damares Alves, produced a technical note, forwarded to other ministries, in which it opposes the vaccine passport and the mandatory application of pediatric doses against Covid.

In the document, Damares makes Dial 100, the government's main channel for reporting human rights violations, available to anti-vaccination people who experience "discrimination." Sought, the ministry said that the service "does not make judgments."

According to the note, "imperative measures of vaccination as a condition for access to human and fundamental rights can violate constitutional provisions."

The vaccination passport could, in the ministry’s view, affect the freedom to come and go, to meet and to exercise professionally.

Damares' directive reinforces the position of the Jair Bolsonaro government, which disputes the need to present an immunization certificate, as well as demonstrates resistance to the vaccination of children aged 5 to 11 years - which delayed the start of the children's campaign.
