HIV-Positive Cases Paralyze Country's Condom-Averse Porn Industry

Behind the scenes, stars say they are terrified, and smaller producers have stopped filming due to lack of cast.

Three porn actresses tested positive for HIV in São Paulo, the main erotic center in the country.

The situation practically paralyzed the national film industry of the genre, which is being forced to review the practice of sex without condoms on stage. Smaller producers, major providers of content for national and foreign platforms, interrupted recordings due to lack of cast. Behind the scenes, porn actors say they are terrified of the situation.

Two of the infected actresses had participated in group sex scenes with different partners in October 2021. The video was produced for the channel of one of the participants on the XVideos platform. In addition to them, four other actors appeared in the production, whose results for an HIV test carried out last year were negative - they are taking new tests this month. Nobody used a condom.

Weeks before, one of these actresses had participated in a scene with an interpreter for the producer HardBrazil — also without protection. It was this actress's first positive result for HIV.

From then until December, all the actors shot scenes with other partners, either to feed their personal channels or for smaller production companies.

Some of these production companies, like HardBrazil, say they do not use condoms in their recordings because they survive by exporting their films. And "nobody buys abroad if they have a condom," says Fábio Silva, the company's CEO. "This practice occurs not only in Brazil, but in the production of erotic films around the world. We take all possible precautions within our reach, because we are dealing with lives and professionals."
