São Paulo

Almost six months, or 171 days, after being imprisoned in Paraguay for entering the country with false documents, Ronaldinho Gaúcho and his brother Roberto de Assis received judicial authorization to return to Brazil. A judge agreed to the release of the Brazilians in Asunción, this Monday (24).

The criminal warrant judge Gustavo Amarilla Arnica agreed with the conditions previously agreed between the brothers' defense and the Paraguayan Public Ministry.

Ronaldinho will have to pay a fine of US$ 90 thousand, and Assisi, of US$ 110 thousand, as compensation for damages to the country.

After five months of investigation, the Public Ministry of Paraguay said the Brazilians entered the country with adulterated documents, but chose to ask the Court for a conditional suspension of the process (one year for Ronaldinho and two for Assisi) and not file new complaints against them.

As part of the agreement, they also provided their address in Rio de Janeiro, where they can be found during this period. They must also remain with the same cell phone numbers or inform the Judiciary in the event of a change.
