Bolsonaro Completes 10 Days without Recognizing Biden as President-Elect of the USA

The Brazilian remains silent, and the expectation is that he will only speak after a recount of votes

President Jair Bolsonaro (without a party) completed this Tuesday (17) ten days without recognizing Joe Biden as president-elect of the United States.

According to Bolsonaro's direct aides, the president will only recognize Biden's victory when the recount of votes ends, the democrat's victory is formalized, or if Trump admits defeat beforehand.

On Thursday (12), Bolsonaro ironically asked supporters if the elections had already ended in the United States.

The Electoral College meets on December 14, when Biden's victory must be formalized.

Since the day he was elected, the Democrat has received compliments from most of the world's leaders, including Trump's allies, including Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (Boris Johnson) and Israel (Binyamin Netanyahu).

On Friday, China congratulated the Democratic ticket for the victory, expanding Bolsonaro's isolation.

Unlike the president, Vice President Hamilton Mourão admitted Biden's victory.

Mourão stressed, however, that his opinion on the case was a personal position and that the recognition of the new U.S. president is Bolsonaro's responsibility.
