The American government questioned Brazil about cutting resources for the Environment, which President Jair Bolsonaro approved the day after his speech at the Summit of Leaders on Climate.
During a meeting with ministers Ricardo Salles (Environment) and Carlos França (Foreign Affairs), on Friday (30), the special envoy for Biden's climate team, John Kerry, expressed concern about the cut of funds approved by the Brazilian leader and wanted to know what had happened.
According to reports from the meeting, the Brazilians argued that the cash flow was inevitable because the summit took place on the eve of the approval of the 2021 Budget. So, they told the Americans, there was no time to avoid it. Salles and France, however, argued that a budget rebuilding by the Ministry of the Environment should take place soon.
