Putin Didn't Listen to Bolsonaro's Peace Message, Says Tourism Minister

Gilson Machado had linked the president's trip to Russia to the cooling of the crisis with Ukraine

Tourism Minister Gilson Machado said that Russian President Vladimir Putin did not listen to the "message of peace" from Jair Bolsonaro.

"He certainly took with him a message of peace. But it is uncertain whether Putin listens or not," said the minister, who had said last week that Bolsonaro helped prevent war.

Bolsonaro went to Moscow on February 15, amid a serious security crisis surrounding Ukraine. On the same day, the Putin government announced the beginning of the withdrawal of part of the troops that were exercising near the borders.

"Brazil is historically a conciliatory country. We have always had great examples of great diplomacy by other presidents, of world problems that we managed to solve," declared Machado.
