German consul Uwe Herbert Hah, 60, arrested on suspicion of having killed his husband, Belgian Walter Henri Maximilien Biot, 52, said his partner had a fit, fell, and hit his head before dying last Friday (5), in the couple's apartment in Ipanema, south of Rio de Janeiro.

The necropsy examination by the IML (Institute of legal medicine) found that the Belgian man had bruises, abrasions, and other types of injuries over more than 15 points of the body and that the cause of death was head trauma caused by "blunt action" (violent blow or not).

Hah had the red-handed arrest converted into a preventive one this Sunday (7). Judge Rafael de Almeida Rezende wrote that his release "could put serious burdens on the collection of evidence", mentioning that the house had been cleaned before the arrival of the forensics team. In a statement given this Saturday afternoon (6) at the Leblon police station, to which Folha had access, the German consul said that the two had been married for 23 years and had lived in Brazil for 4 years. Biot did not work, but he held a diplomatic passport.
