The national program of the PT (Workers' Party), aired on Tuesday, May 5,on radio and television networks, was the target of protests in neighborhoods of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Curitiba, Florianópolis, Porto Alegre, Salvador and Recife.
In the capital city of São Paulo, the residents of neighborhoods such as Bela Vista, Jardins, Pinheiros, Mooca, Perdizes, Brooklin, Santana and Tatuapé held a pot-banging protest during the ten-minute program, which showed the speech of former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva against the outsourcing project.
In Rio de Janeiro city, the residents of Leblon, Flamengo, Botafogo, Copacabana, Laranjeiras and Jardim Botânico also beat their pans during the PT's program. The protest also was registered in the neighborhoods of Tijuca, Barra, Andaraí and Jacarepaguá.
In Brasília, the protest was coupled by a horn-honking protest in Asa Norte, Asa Sul, Sudoeste as well as in Águas Claras. During the program, some residents of the Federal District also set off fireworks.
The pot-banging protest was organized by groups opposing the federal government through social networks.
In the PT nation-wide program, the national president of the party, Rui Falcão, guaranteed that the PT will expel any member of the party who is found guilty at the end of a trial.
"Also for that reason, the PT doesn't accept that some sectors of the press want to criminalize the entire party for the serious mistakes made by some of its members," he said.
Then, a hired actor stressed: "You heard it. Any member of the PT who is found guilty at the end of a trial will be expelled."
