Congressman Jair Bolsonaro (Social Christian Party) went up in the polls and tied for 2nd place along with former senator Marina Silva (Rede) in the 2018 presidential election. They both obtained approximately 15% of the vote.
In the first Datafolha poll following the release of construction firm Odebrecht's testimony in the Lava Jato Operation, former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (Workers' Party ) stretched his lead and reached 30% of the vote, despite having been compromised by the testimony's revelations.
On the other hand, 45% of voters reject Lula, who is tied with Aécio Neves in this regard (44%), and consider his government the most corrupt.
The mayor of São Paulo, João Doria (Brazilian Social Democracy Party), who was included in the polls for the first time, is varying between 9% and 11% of the vote.
His performance is as good, if not better than, the performances of fellow party members Aécio Neves and Geraldo Alckmin, both of whom have been cited by informants.
In the event that there is a runoff, Lula would beat all candidates with the exception of Marina Silva and judge Sergio Moro who does not belong to a political party. Polls show that, despite a technical tie, Moro would beat Lula 42% to 40%.
Datafolha interviewed 2,781 people in 172 municipalities on Wednesday (the 26th) and Thursday (the 27th), one day before the general strike took place in Brazil on Friday (the 28th). The poll's margin of error is 2 percentage points.
