In his third statement after the disclosure of the plea bargains made by executives of JBS, the world's biggest meatpacking company, President Michel Temer sought support from Congress, which is already discussing his succession. "We are still making progress and voting important bills," Temer said on a video on social networks. He also said that the country "did not stop and will not stop."

In his statement, Temer thanked supporting parties that comprise his base and defended that the demonstrations that had occurred the day before had "exaggerations" but did not stop the Lower House and the Senate from voting on bills in the government's interest.

Temer referred to the approval of six provisional measures in the Lower House on Wednesday evening, May 24, after members of opposing parties walked out.

The government now tries to negotiate with allies to guarantee the "survival" of the Temer administration, which depends on the approval of the reforms and Temer's leaving the political scene in 2018.

On Thursday, May 25, the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) filed a request for impeachment against President Temer in the House of Representatives.

The OAB accuses Temer of high crimes and misdemeanor as he did not denounce Joesley Batista, of JBS.
