FROM SÃO PAULO
How did a 53-year-old grandmother come to be Afghanistan's only female police chief, taking on the Taliban?
With 30 million consumers in the United States alone, is internet pornography going to become the next great privacy scandal?
What kind of messages circulate between members of São Paulo's Military Police in a secret WhatsApp group?
Vice has become known for its investigative journalism, which aims to find answers to irreverent questions like those above. It is a global media platform with a young audience.
From Tuesday, Folha will begin to republish texts, videos and photos provided by Vice, in a new partnership.
The reader will have access to material produced by 36 offices across the 25 countries in which Vice is active. It currently has more than 4000 collaborators, with a fixed team of 70 people in Brazil.
Vice was born in Canada in 1994 as Voice of Montreal. Two years later, it became Vice.
Today, its websites receive 50 million visitors a month, it has 7.4 million followers on Facebook and its videos have been viewed two billion times.
The focus of Vice is immersive journalism "about all that interests young people", according to Daniel Conti, CEO of Vice Brasil. "Global news, music, trends, travel, art, drugs, politics, sport, fashion, sex." he continues.
"This is a win-win situation," says Sérgio Dávila, Folha*'s executive editor. "Folha* gets vibrant, high-quality content, while Vice obtains more visitors for its website and more publicity for its brand in Brazil."
