Ricardo Teixeira still receiving salary from CBF

Pressed by the federal government and FIFA, Ricardo Teixeira resigned as president of the CBF more than three months ago, claiming reasons of health.

Far from Brazil, the top dog left his command of the confederacy, but still receives payments from the organization that he ran for 23 years.

Living in Miami since then, the former president gets more from Jose Maria Marin, his successor, than he earned as the chief executive. In the new management, the deposits are still being made to Teixeira in the Itaú agency located in the condominium which functions as the headquarters of the CBF in Rio.

The first release of payment was authorized on March 30. According to the financial archive of the entity, the director was authorized to receive R$105,000. As president of the confederation, he earned R$98,000 a month.

The operation was repeated at the end of the following month. On April 30, the CBF released an even bigger deposit. According to the record for that day, the bigshot received R$120,000. In May, the organization made a new release of funds. The reporter could not specify the value that was granted.

In the new CBF, Teixeira is paid as a kind of special advisor to the presidency. The function is also used by the President of the Paulista Soccer Federation, Marco Polo Del Nero.

The guy is also paid in the CBF. Since the beginning of Marin's Management, he receives about R$130,000 from the confederation monthly.

The man from Sao Paulo should now be named vice president of the Southeast region. Being the oldest of the deputies, Del Nero, 71, will replace Marin in case of any problem with the current president.

Marin succeeded Teixeira thanks to Del Nero. About four years ago, the head of the Sao Paulo Federation recommended the former politician to occupy one of the vice-presidencies.

Out of the spotlight since March 12, when he sent his resignation letter from Miami, Teixeira remains influential in the organization. Staff report to him weekly on the financial transactions of the CBF.

Earlier this month, Marin personally met with his predecessor.

Abroad, they talked about what goes on behind the scenes at FIFA and domestic soccer, in addition to having discussed the organization of the World Cup. Teixeira also chaired the Local Organizing Committee for 2014.

Teixeira left office in March under pressure from the federal government and the leadership of FIFA. He was the target of accusations of corruption both in Brazil and abroad.

In the country, Folha showed his connection to Ailanto Marketing, accused of misuse of public funds in a friendly match between Brazil and Portugal in 2008 in the Federal District.

Abroad, Teixeira was threatened with being expelled from FIFA for his alleged involvement in the ISL case, the biggest corruption scandal of the organization. After resigning the presidency of the CBF, he also gave up his positions in FIFA.
