An unidentified man was killed on Saturday (14) evening during a Carnival parade at the intersection of Ipiranga and São João avenues, in downtown São Paulo.
The man had joined the Carnival band "Tarado Ni Você", which chose the region as part of a tribute to Brazilian singer Caetano Veloso and his song "Sampa" that speaks of the famous intersection.
According to the police, the victim was stabbed in the neck and the attacker ran away.
In the State of Rio de Janeiro, the four street groups expected to play last Sunday (15) in Paraty, a town on the South coast of Rio, cancelled their presentations because of violence, after gunfire killed one man and injured ten others at Praça da Matriz, during the early hours.
The shooting between two rival gangs of local dealers happened at 3am, in the heart of the historic centre of the city.
Emerson Martins de Jesus, 22, a suspect of having connections with the local drug trafficking was shot five times.
