Samba School Vai-Vai Crowned São Paulo Carnival Champion

The samba school Vai-Vai has been crowned champion of the São Paulo 2015 Carnival, with a tribute to the singer Elis Regina.
Regina died 33 years ago.
The group finished on 269.9 points out of a possible 270.
Vai-Vai had not won since 2011, when they triumphed with a tribute to the pianist and conductor João Carlos Martins, mixing samba with classical music.
This is the 15th such victory.
Mocidade Alegre finished in second place, with a tribute to the actress Marília Pêra.
The judging at the Rio Carnival will take place on Wednesday (18).
