Amid uncertainty about the political viability of the Alliance for Brazil political party, President Jair Bolsonaro's new party was launched on Thursday (21) in Brasilia, with a strong appeal to religious discourse, the defense of carrying of arms and the repudiation of the socialism and communism.

Earlier in the evening, on social media, Bolsonaro announced the party's number as 38 - equal to the caliber of one of the country's best-known handguns.

With  Bolsonaro and his children in attendance, the Alliance was presented as "a conservative and sovereign party," against "false promises of globalism" and "committed to self-determination" and to "the historical, moral and cultural traditions of our Brazilian nation."

The party is still seeking loopholes in the Electoral Justice to participate in the next elections with party and electoral funds and radio and TV time. But in the meantime, it will be led by the Bolsonaro clan.

The family's main challenge is to get at least 491,967 signatures for the registration to be approved by the Supreme Electoral Court (TSE) and the Alliance to get out of paper - becoming the ninth acronym for Bolsonaro's career.

This will, however, be the first time the president will be in charge of a political party. On Thursday, fulfilling a legal requirement, the provisional committee of the association was announced.

In addition to the presidency, held by Jair Bolsonaro, his firstborn, Senator Flavio, was announced as first vice president.
