Bolsonaro Announces that He Has Contracted Coronavirus
President underwent the coronavirus test on Monday after feeling symptoms of the disease
President Jair Bolsonaro, 65, announced on Tuesday (7) that he contracted the novel coronavirus, after performing a new test to detect it on Monday (6).
"I'm perfectly fine," said Bolsonaro, announcing the positive result for Covid-19 in an interview with CNN Brasil, Record and TV Brasil.
The masked president made the announcement, but he did not show the exam results. He decided to take the test after experiencing mild symptoms: low fever and cough.
According to CNN Brasil, Bolsonaro said that he has 38ºC of fever and a 96% rate of oxygenation in the blood. He further stated that he is taking hydroxychloroquine.
According to interlocutors, Bolsonaro canceled his attendance at events this week. He also told his associates that he must hold video conferences this week to avoid contagion if he has been infected.
