FROM SÃO PAULO
After a two-week treatment, Pelé will be discharged on Tuesday (9), according to Albert Einstein hospital.
"Patient Edson Arantes do Nascimento continues clinical improvement without signs of infection. He has moved into his own room; considering his good recovery, his medical team has scheduled his release for tomorrow [Tuesday 9]".
The former athlete was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection on November 24, after undergoing post-surgery tests. He had kidney stones removed one week before.
His health worsened on March 27, when he was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and had to go through dialysis to help his kidney filter the blood.
Pelé has had only one kidney for about 30 years.
On Friday (5) he posted a video he recorded two days before on Facebook that showed him at the hospital playing guitar alongside his daughters Flávia and Kelly and his girlfriend Márcia.
"I take this opportunity to thank all of you, from all over the world, who cared about my health. Thank God I am all right, I am recovered", he said.
