Brasília

A study carried out by Unafisco, the association that represents the Federal Revenue tax auditors, reveals that the richest group in the country (1% of the population) has declared that they receive incomes of at least US$ 5,000 a month and own assets of over US$ 200,000, in average.

Among those with earnings higher than US$79,000 a month, the net worth averages US$16 million.

Still according to data consolidated by the Institution, 0.13% of the population is at the top of the wealth pyramid. The data, according to the institution's president, Mauro Silva, show that the very rich Brazilians do not earn as much as it is believed.
