93% of Brazilians Condemn the Attacks on Democracy, Says Datafolha

According to 46%, everyone involved in the vandalism must be arrested

The vast majority of Brazilians repudiate the attacks on the headquarters of the three Powers, carried out by supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro on the 8th. According to Datafolha, 93% are against it, and 3% say they are in favor.

The institute polled1,214 people over the age of 16, therefore, eligible to vote, on Tuesday (10) and Wednesday (11), in a telephone survey throughout Brazil.

For 46% of those interviewed, everyone involved in the depredations must be in prison. In the opinion of 15%, the majority should go to prison, 26% think that only a few, and 9% believe that no one should be arrested.

As for the expectation of punishment by the Judiciary, 77% believe that those involved will be punished – 42% expect a harsh penalty, and 35%, a mild one. There are 17% who believe that nothing will happen to criminals.

In the opinion of 63%, the security of the Federal District did less than it could against the destruction. Another 61% think the same about Ibaneis Rocha, the governor who was removed, and 37% say that Lula should have done more.

Despite this, 64% believe that the president will be able to control any escalation of the coup, against 29% who think the opposite.
