Images from1/8 Show Lula's Irritation and Serial Security Breaches

Except for sporadic attempts, videos show that vandals acted without restraint for an extended period of time

Brasília

The disclosure of approximately 160 hours of recordings from the cameras of the internal circuit of the Palácio do Planalto on January 8th exposes moments of irritation of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), heated conversations between ministers and a sequence of security breaches which provided unimpeded action by vandals for an extended period of time.

Although some of the video do not contain audio, the images reveal several ministers, congressmen and other authorities in a state of perplexity on the night of the 8th, when assessing the damage. At one point, Lula passes in front of his office, in the midst of a delegation of ministers and assistants, and gestures repeatedly at the signs of vandalism, showing irritation.

The videos were released by the Office of Institutional Security of the Presidency, the GSI, after the Federal Supreme Court ( STF) Justice Alexandre de Morais lifted the secrecy regarding them.

The Presidency's 33 internal security circuit cameras cover areas from the parking lot to the fourth floor, which was not invaded. From several angles, it is possible to notice a series of security flaws and an apparent disorientation of the few agents in the place, which allowed access and free circulation of the vandals through the floors and rooms of the Presidential Palace.
