The three defendants accused of the murder of indigenist Bruno Pereira and journalist Dom Phillips gave testimony online to the Federal Court of Tabatinga (AM), this Monday (8). The hearing opens the procedural phase, which will decide whether the accused go to a jury trial or not.

The interrogation of Amarildo Oliveira, Oseney de Oliveira, and Jefferson da Silva Lima lasted about 3h30.

The three were denounced by the Federal Prosecution Service on suspicion of double-qualified homicide and concealment of a corpse. The crime took place on June 5, 2022, and the accused were arrested two months later.

This afternoon's hearing took place after the judge rescheduled the date for the fourth time. In a note, TRF-1 (Federal Regional Court -1) attributed the constant rescheduling to internet problems.

Also in a note, one of the lawyers for Dom Phillips' family, Rafael Fagundes, said that the prosecution is satisfied and convinced of the materiality of the evidence of double homicide against the defendants. Representatives of Bruno's family endorsed the position.

"It will certainly result in a sentence of indictment and the carrying out of the trial of the accused before the Jury Court", says the communiqué sent by Fagundes.
