The intense cold of this Tuesday morning (20), with negative temperature, left a layer of ice on car windows and in green areas in the extreme south of São Paulo, such as Parelheiros and Marsilac.

According to the Center for Climate Management and Emergencies of the City of São Paulo, the capital registered a minimum of 5.4°C of average temperature and -2.3°C of the lowest absolute temperature.

Nursing assistant Veronica Roschl, 35, a resident of Marsilac, where the city's lowest temperatures are recorded, said she was used to the cold.

"In my neighborhood, there are days when it's so cold that it freezes things outside."

Next to the bus stop, a bonfire drew attention. Around the fire, there were four homeless men. One of them, Elias Aparecido de Jesus, 37, commented on the difficulty of facing the cold outside.

"Without the bonfire, there is no way to withstand the cold, besides the corotes [cachaça], which also help to heat up, at least when we drink it."
