Disarticulation between Government and City Hall of SP Leaves 14 thousand Children without School

Problem occurs in the 1st year of elementary school, after full-time expansion; municipality increased the number of vacancies, while the state does not reveal its numbers

The backpack, emblazoned with the character Gata Marie, is at the end of the bed. Isabella, 6, doesn't leave school supplies even to sleep. The girl's anxiety about going back to school turned into anguish for her mother, Talita Carolina dos Santos Fiuza, 26. A few days before the start of the school year in municipal schools, on Monday (7), Talita did not get a place for the daughter in the public network – classes, across the state, started on Wednesday (2). This situation has repeated throughout the city of São Paulo.

Folha found that almost 14,000 children are in the queue for enrollment in the 1st year of elementary school in the capital of São Paulo. This is a consequence of the way in which the João Doria (PSDB) government increased the number of full-time state schools and the lack of articulation with the city hall, under the management of Ricardo Nunes (MDB).
