Brazil recorded 1,277 new deaths by Covid-19 and 47,984 cases this Thursday (2). With this, the country reaches 61,990 deaths from the disease and a total of 1,501,353 cases.

The data comes from an unprecedented collaboration between Folha, O Estado de S. Paulo, Extra, O Globo, G1, and UOL to gather and disclose the numbers related to the pandemic of the new coronavirus. The information is collected directly from the state Health Departments. The balance is closed daily at 8 pm.

São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, following what has happened, had the highest total number of deaths in the last 24 hours. Respectively, 321 and 134 deaths were recorded. The state of São Paulo already counts 15,351 deaths by Covid-19 and Rio, 10,332.

This Thursday, the states of Goiás, Minas Gerais, and Roraima broke the record for deaths, with 51, 52, and 40 deaths recorded.

Data released by the Ministry of Health indicate 48,105 new cases and 1,252 new deaths confirmed by Covid-19 in Brazil this Thursday. The total already reaches 61,884 deaths and 1,496,858 cases from the new coronavirus.
