Brazil Has The Highest Average of Deaths per Day since The Start of the Pandemic

Country accumulates 74 thousand deaths and more than 1.9 million infected

Brazil has recorded the highest average death toll from Covid-19 in the past seven days since the pandemic began. The country's so-called moving average of deaths this Tuesday reached 1,056.

This data is a statistical resource that provides a more accurate view of the evolution of the disease, as it attenuates isolated numbers that deviate from the pattern. The moving average is calculated by adding the result of the last seven days, dividing by seven.

The average shows that two regions of the country, Midwest and South, are those that registered the highest percentage increase in deaths. In the South, the total number of deaths in the last seven days doubled compared with the previous week. The Midwest had an increase of 43%.

Across Brazil, just this Tuesday (14), there were 1,341 deaths and 43,245 infected, according to a survey by the press consortium. The country has already accumulated 74,262 deaths since the pandemic began in March. More than 1.9 million were infected with the disease.

The data with the total number of infected and victims come from a consortium of press outlets between Folha, O Estado de S. Paulo, Extra, O Globo, G1, and UOL.

According to data from the Ministry of Health released on Tuesday (14), Brazil registered 41,857 new cases and 1,300 deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. The total already reaches 74,133 deaths and 1,926,824 cases from the new coronavirus.
