Although a Covid-19 vaccine is now available in countries like the United Kingdom, and will likely become available in Brazil in 2021, the portion of the Brazilian population that does not intend to take the vaccine has grown, according to a survey by Datafolha.
They stated that 22% of respondents do not want to be vaccinated. In comparison, 73% said they will participate in the campaign - another 5% do not know. A national survey carried out in August indicated that only 9% would not take the doses, against 89% who would accept them.
Last week's research was carried out amid a dispute between President Jair Bolsonaro (without a party) and São Paulo's governor, João Doria (PSDB), his political rival. Doria announced the import, manufacture, and even date of immunization independently of the government federal.
Doria will face another challenge, according to Datafolha. Half of the respondents replied that they would not take a Chinese drug, such as Coronavac, produced in partnership by the Butantan Institute.
